NATIONAL QUALITY FRAMEWORK
The National Quality Framework raises quality and drives continuous improvement and consistency in Australian education and care services. Established in 2012, the NQF applies to most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside schools hours care services.

The Australian, state and territory education Ministers have agreed to changes to the National Quality Framework following a review of the National Partnership Agreement on the National Quality Agenda for Early Childhood Education and Care. Learn more about changes that will come into effect from 1 October 2017.

The National Quality Framework (NQF) was the result of an agreement between all Australian governments to work together to provide better educational and developmental outcomes for children.

The NQF introduced a new quality standard in 2012 to improve education and care across long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten, and outside school hours care.
The NQF includes : • the National Law and National Regulations

• the National Quality Standard

• an assessment and quality rating process

• national learning frameworks
Legislation
From January 2012, Family Day Care services were required to abide by the requirements of the National Quality Framework.

This Framework has introduced National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework for child care services.

All services nationwide will be regulated under the one system.

Family Day Care services are required to be licensed, hold service approval and comply with the legislative requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law 2011.
The National Quality Standards (NQS)
All Early Childhood services in Australia are currently being against the National Quality Standards. Services will be required to display their assessment rating and it will be published online under the 'My Child' website.
